(April) Founded by members of the Boston Bar Association, its purpose is to provide legal advice and aid to the poor. The organization’s importance is subsequently underscored by a case in which a defendant announces that God is his counsel, to which Boston Municipal Court judge Elijah Adlow replies, “That’s good, but don’t you want someone local?”
